Join me in South Africa for a six-night adventure combining hands-on animal care with an African safari, with photographic opportunities throughout.
Your journey begins with three nights at a family-owned big-cat reserve. Come prepared to get involved and get your hands dirty! Working alongside the reserve’s team, you’ll help prepare feeds, assist with feeding young lion and tiger cubs, and clean their pens.
The experience includes physically handling the cubs under the team’s guidance, offering an insight into the patience, attention and responsibility involved in their daily care.
We’ll then travel to our safari destination for a further three nights, swapping the daily animal-care routine for guided wildlife drives and opportunities to observe and photograph animals in the African bush.
This trip welcomes photographers and non-photographers alike. Whether you’re looking to capture memorable wildlife images or simply enjoy practical animal-care experiences and the excitement of a safari, I’d love you to join me.
All animal-care activities, handling and encounters are subject to availability, staff guidance and the animals’ welfare needs. Wildlife sightings on safari cannot be guaranteed.

Having attended many times and nine months living at this reserve, helping care for the animals, I look forward to sharing a place that means so much to me.
Through guided encounters and arranged activities, you’ll have opportunities to see the big cats up close and capture memorable photographs.

Through wildlife encounters, and time spent learning about the animals, this small-group adventure invites you to reflect on the importance of protecting wild populations and the habitats they depend on.
Wild African lions face an uncertain future, with populations under pressure from habitat loss, poaching and conflict with people. Protecting wild lions and their habitats is essential

This image captures a Dalmatian pelican in a split‑second display of precision and power, photographed as it launches skyward to snatch a fish mid‑air. Shot from a low angle, the frame amplifies the bird’s vast wingspan and the athletic grace of its hunt.
Charlie won First Prize in the Under-18s category of the Vickers Clickers photography competition with his photograph of a tawny owl.
